Maybe I'm living in my head Fill the empty space upon my bed But you're everything I wanted and I'm scared to lose it all again, it's true So innocent but in the end the only thing I have to lose is you So tell me now Will you stay around? Can I do it all again? Can I do it all again? Let's take a chance Pray this never ends Can I lose it all again? Can I lose it all again? One day I'll be sick of fighting you Or maybe the love we share will sink into the blue But you're everything I want right now, we both know things just don't work out sometimes So if and when this has to end just promise me you'll leave me what is mine So tell me now Will you stay around? Can I do it all again? Can I do it all again? Let's take a chance Pray this never ends Can I lose it all again? Can I lose it all again? So tell me now Will you stay around? Can I do it all again? Can I do it all again? Let's take a chance Pray this never ends Can I lose it all again? Can I lose it all again? So tell me now Will you stay around? Can't do it all again Can't do it all again Can't lose it all again Can't lose it all again

Can you hear me from the other side Cause I’m talking just to fill the silence in I know you’re trying to escape your mind Cause you know its end is starting to begin So lay down There’s nothing I can do or I can say now These plaques have got your head inside a state now And I’m falling to my knees Cause I can’t believe that’s all you’ll be Will you wake up Will you wake up next to me Will you wake up Will you wake up next to me Can you still recall your other life? Every day it’s getting easy to forget These memories back and forth cut like a knife As I ask if you remember how we met But it’s okay Cause after all you still recall your own name I know it’s bad but don’t be mad when I say I know you won’t concur But I prefer who you were Will you wake up Will you wake up next to me Will you wake up Will you wake up next to me Next to me, you’re alone Next to me, you’re alone Will you wake up Will you wake up next to me Will you wake up Will you wake up next to me So lay down There’s nothing I can do or I can say now These plaques have got your head inside a state now I’m falling to my knees But I hate to leave, while you’re still with me Will you wake up Will you wake up next to me Will you wake up Will you wake up next to me So lay down There’s nothing I can do or I can say now These plaques have got your head inside a state now I’m falling to my knees But I hate to leave, while you’re still with me

about

An intricately woven 10-track tale of new heartbreak, the struggle of moving on, battles with doubt, finding self-assurance and ultimately, the acceptance that love and loss are part of a larger narrative; to move on and begin again. Steering Wheels On Summers Days is a provoking, alt-indie-rock journey, anchored by lead singer Nick Lowe’s resonant voice and authentic energy.

The album holds a unique place in the young band’s development, showcasing Noon Shift’s immense range from energy-boosting I Don’t Know You At All that features power chords, jaunty bass and punched up drums to Wake Up, a vocally driven offering with easy-paced acoustic picking and sweeping strings. The development is also shown in the album’s arrangement, where each track can be enjoyed as a stand alone, or part of the overarching saga - a testament to the band’s thoughtfulness and exhibition as premiere storytellers.

The collection begins as a sole guitar is plugged in and begins to play, slowly building pace into the speedy opening riff of the album’s opening track Nothing Here To Prove, an impassioned offering that sets the stage for the edgier sounds on the record; Metallica sighted as a subconscious reference for the guitar riffs.
It is the start of the story, encapsulating the feelings of life shortly after a breakup where drunken escapades lead to little crushes, juxtaposed with feelings of apprehension that eventually both parties are “probably going to lose.” Do It All Again follows, drawing on rich intricacies and diverse vocal melodies, while Don’t Wanna Let This Go slows the pace as a measured indie-rock ballad that entreats “maybe we can figure out, if it’s meant to be.”

Worth It draws parallels to early 2000’s coming of age movies with subdued, acoustic instrumentation and simple melodies that further draw attention to the narrative. Take A Bow marks the middle of the album but centers on the end of a romantic relationship as themes of heartbreak and acceptance are explored while taking in the band’s story-telling style paired with a warm instrumental. I Don’t Know You At All kicks up the energy again, leading to Never Meant To Work This Out, and Impossibly - alt-rock blends that infuse guitar melodies with Nick’s strength as a vocalist on full display. Wake Up is a sound calling to the hopeless and hopeful, woven from a perspective of those closest to a person suffering a life-changing illness. That Won’t Stop Me Trying rounds out the album, a cautiously lively track that mirrors the acceptance of moving on from heartbreak “where nobody’s hurt and all our words are heard. I know it’s hard to find but that won’t stop me trying.”

Written in a place of resolution, with gained and learned experiences of love and heartbreak Steering Wheels On Summers Days is a tightly packaged and confident alt-rock sound that epitomises Noon Shift as both expert songwriters and proficient musicians. Taking inspiration from giants of their respective genres including Foo Fighters and Gang Of Youths, Noon Shift are forging their own music journey with the release of Steering Wheels On Summers Days on Friday 14th October 2022.
